Just My Luck

Mom was telling me that a horse at the barn I ride at was going to be put up for half lease, and that she might be a good horse for me. The next day I find out I am going to ride her. I’m so thrilled, and after I finish putting her tack on, I go outside. All the sudden people are freaking out and telling me to walk her around, calling the vet. I take her up to her stall, and I’ve got this big adrenaline rush from being scared. I thought I did something to her. Now I know she has EPM, and I just hope they caught it early enough for her to make a full recovery. But it just stinks, if I could have half-leased her, it would have been great for everyone. I knew it was too good to be true…

Meg’s Ducks

Mom ordered some runner duck eggs for Meg, our border collie. They’re really cool. So are the eggs, you can see the developing duck, it looks like a black speck with viens running through the egg. Runner ducks were bred to go out in the rice paddys and eat the bugs or something.

Here’s a picture.

Aren’t they really cool looking?

I’m a Band Geek

I have a band concert on Saturday. My band is playing Thus Spoke the Raven (based on the poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe) and A medly of Beauty and the Beast songs. I like the songs we’re playing, but our band is really bad and there are a lot of high notes. Luckily, we have a couple of good people in each section, and the first, second, and third chair trumpets are really good (me included), and I’m in the better jazz band. My jazz band is playing Singing in the Rain, The Girl From Ipanema, I Got Plenty Of Nuttin’, and Jungle Boogie. Beforewe start Jungle Boogie, awards are going to be handed out. I’m probably not going to get any because one of the awards the people in the band voted for, and that’s probably going to be for one of the percussionists, the other one is the director’s award, and that’s probably going to our oboe-ist (in jazz band probaly the bari-sax player). Anyways, Taylor, Will, and I are going to play our trio, so that’s pretty awesome. I just hope I can reach those low notes.

I’m a band geek and I’m proud of it!
