Snow Tires

I did a good deed — I got snow tires on the pickup.

Robinson is going to be driving the pickup quite a bit this winter, and I have recurring nightmares of her spinning it out once a week. That happened to my mother in her little Ford pickup (1983?). She solved the problem by vowing to never own anything but front-wheel drive / 4-wd vehicles.

I’m hoping the tires will make her drive safer, and I feel pretty good about that.

Do you think the tires count as this year’s Christmas gift? Hmmm. I smell a new poll.

Snow tires *might* be a great gift. The important question is - what need does Robinson cherish in her heart? If the biggest thing is a dread of tires inadequate for the weather - Sweet! If the void your gift attempts to fill is shaped more like family, close feelings, or delight in home or making a nice appearance - Oops!

There is a reason that giving a gift is one of the hardest things we do all year. A successful gift begins with understanding and recognizing the one we give the gift to. Then finding the right gift and recognizing that it fills that special niche will be as big of a joy as the actual giving.

Oh, and there has to be an expression of respect, too.

Saying I love you says I love you, too…but it’s not a Christmas present!!! Scottish, really…run out of geek gifts…I’ve got one for ya, it’s what I’m getting me and Alex for Christmas and Laura would LOVE it.

I received a vacuum cleaner for Christmas last year and I didn’t even ask for one.

Hey, since I have asked for and received such gifts as a ladder, palm sander and screw driver assortment, I see nothing wrong with the snow tires. Love is bestowed and received in many different ways.

Please buy some snow tires for George instead. I’m sure Robinson can use them and all, though from my somewhat distant perspective I see her smiling as she spins in the pickup, but, really, for Christmas? No, sir, I’m afraid not. Of course, I voted yes in the poll.
